Portfolios - there are four primary portfolios in the Salinas Jaycees. The Salinas Jaycees note the direction of the funds to determine which portfolio is responsible for certain events. Each of these portfolios has a Vice President and a Director.
  • Management - This portfolio is in charge of events that bring income into the group for basic operations and funding Membership, I.D. or C.D. events. This is primarily done through bartending work for our community, the Salinas Rodeo being the best example (and an exceptional experience!). If you work in this portfolio you will learn what is needed to run a sucessful event in Salinas.
  • Membership - This portfolio is in charge of reaching out to membership to determine their interests, organize membership mixers, and obtain and retain members though contact. Typically this portfolio operates by spending monies brought in by the Management portfolio.
  • Individual Development - This portfolio concentrates on deveolping the membership into better individuals through classes put on by professionals and Jaycees alike (ofter they are both) often with monies brought in by Management, although a charge to non-Jaycees sometimes helps to defer the costs. There are many opportunities to put on small classes or seminars for the benefit of your fellow Jaycee.
  • Community Development - Last, but certainly not least, is the portfolio that helps define who we are. This portfolio often funds itself in that the events generate income but that income doesn't go back to the Salinas Jaycees, it goes to our community. Events like the All-Star Football Game (ASF) and Eggstravaganza generate revenue which is then given to pre-determined groups after the event; the ASF funds are split between the participating schools' sports programs and Eggstravaganza funds typically go to another charity. And this portfolio is heavily involved in the Childrens Shopping Tour, our flagship event.
