| The Individual Development
board members look forward to an exciting new year, building on the
exciting opportunities of 2003. In addition to the monthly mixers, last
year we had a number of luncheons with local public figures to assist in
educating our members on community activity. Brian Contreras with Second
Chance Youth Services came to address the gang issues in Salinas and
actions that were taking place to try and control the continued spread
of this problem through positive youth activities. Kathy Aaroe,
Facilitator for Leadership Salinas Valley, came to address potential
leadership opportunities in the community. Our final event last year was
a member appreciation turn-around casino bus trip that included a stop
for wine tasting at a local winery.
This year we have great things planned
for the individual development of the Salinas Jaycees. We will continue
the educational facet of individual development, but will also have
social events that allow an opportunity for a reprieve from our everyday
routines. The opportunities available will be expanding to include
events in Monterey to extend our presence and networking ability with
other young business professionals in the peninsula community. We will
have alternately a monthly mixer or event to help in the individual
growth of our members. The events will be either a seminar style
meeting, or a social event. We're excited about the new possibilities
that will be available for existing and potential new members!" |
